My crashed on a loading screen (when you retry a mission it has a load screen) it jus kept loading n loading n loadin ectect so i had to press the PS button n quit the game

Ive clocked up a good 9 hours and no problems! Only my controller turns off exiting the game!

ok ive had my first multiplayer screw up

was in a massive 16player match doin turf wars wit me mates, and when it finished we all jus got stuck on the scoreboard :@

also i dont think my rank is saving :S

Its hardly been off since I've had it - no crashes for me.

The single player is fine for me also.....i am however having problems with the multiplayer......sometimes it lets me on, sometimes it doesnt, its really strange, ive tried allsorts to try to fix the problem to no avail.

I have the 40GB version and everything was going swimmingly with me racking up 27% of game completion over a day and a half's gamefestering.

However, I just went to play this morning and the system would not load my last save: 'deconstruction for beginners'. I tried re-loading a couple of times by resetting the system and ejecting the disk and cleaning it (you never know - might have worked!!) - all to no avail.
I then went into my game saves and deleted my most recent save - as I had made a safehouse save 20mins previous to the autosave (just as well) and then tried reloading again - again with no success!!
Sooooooo....I then deleted the file it downloads onto your hard drive at the very beginning and reloaded it (by running the game again it does it itself - just takes a while) and........

SUCCESS!!!! It's working again - for now!

I know this is slightly different to what some of you seem to be suffering with but thought it was worth a mention in case anyone else encounters this problem.

My mate said his crashed(60GB) due to an auto save during the mission you chase the guy on the roof and decide his fate (sorry cant remember the name of said mission!).
I have just turned off the auto-save function!! and will just have to remember to do things the old fashioned way!!

I'm away to recover some coke.......................

Hi folks,

I'm new to the forum, I've had the same problem with GTA IV crashing, but i think i have found a quick way to resolve the problem without a full reload, but it could be a fluke.

I came to play it this morning and just kept hanging when trying to load my last saved game. I backed up my saves and deleted them off the ps3 and then added them one by one to see which would load first, but to no avail it kept failing....... I tried one last thing before going for a full reload. I deleted the profile under the games saves and then added my last save and frig me it loaded. Unfortunately it could be a fluke, or it did work. but as a test, i added my backed up profile save and it hung on the loading screen like before, I then deleted it and its worked. so not sure what other stuff the profile save does other than save any custom setting, unless an autosave is used.

anyway i have ranted enough, i hope it works for you guys.

cool, let me know if it works for you. Also, i forgot to mention, but when it loaded, i just created a new save straightaway. Just in case...
