Buying from the US

Anyone else bought it from the US yet? I think i'll buy it today, hopefully get it late next week sometime.

Say for example you have a NTSC copy of Socom and your mate has PAL you wont be able to connect to them, i had that problem on COD4 when i had a NTSC version.

It just something to do with the regions i guess... i may be wrong though?

The games are region free. I wouldnt have thought NTFS and PAL would stop you playing each other. How do you play all the americans online then? Dont confuse my ass dude

Im not sure Nana, I think he's right, I know you cant buy any DLC if there is going to be any,

I have an american download of Bowling from the US store and I cant get any DLC for it (not that i want to anyway) but same story.

Is there a release date for it over here?

Nope, not yet. Europe gets screwed once again. Probably the end of November.

if you get the yank version you get the bog standard version ...no add on from PSN unless you create an account with an american address so you show as an american....thats how the yanks in the airforce base at wakefield

on a side note Far Cry 2 has just been advertised....any one getting it?

yeah I was going to get one from playasia.com for CoD4 but got told the map packs wont work for it so I got a refund...then I went quickly to another site and cancelled my Socom preorder too.

I don't understand how games can be regional free and DL content region locked...makes no sense....we should pertition sony to stop this...but then if there was nothing to seperate the regions all games would have to marketed at the same price range...which why I think the region lock the DL content

Nah, on a serious note though, I don’t know how they restrict it, it is annoying.

It's the same on the PSP as well, me and my friend had Coded Arms when it came out, I had a US copy, he had a PAL copy and when we tried to connect to each other for two player it wasn’t happening, we only put it down to the regions being different. Very ***!

i'd get it from the states , cheaper for starters and when it finally does come out here who can trade it in for a euro onewithout being out of pocket,or just rent it and switch games. gamesstores dont know whether its an import or not all they look at is the disk

I bought it from the states a couple of weeks ago (VG+), I am a big SOCOM fan so could not wait. In hindsight I wish I had waited. The game should never have been released in the state it was in, it was broken. Its better now with the huge patches, so the PAL release should be already patched out of the box. I will probably end up buying it again for the DLC, then sell my NTSC copy on ebay. Thats what I did with Rock Band, without too much of a loss.
