Default logitech steering wheel broken???

I've just bought a logitech driving force EX wheel and it has no force feedback when playing GT5. Everything else works. Tried pressing mode button and it never flashes (found on other thread that mode button won't work if using USB -which I am). my question is, is my wheel screwed or am I missing something?

Don't know if it helps, but my Logitech wheel only gives feedback if you plug in the separate power supply. Just connecting to the USB on the PS3 unit presumably doesn't give enough power.
Sorry if you've already tried it.
