Hmm... do you see at the end of that video where he's doing the connection test? There's Playstation Network, UPnP and Nat Type on his screen. These don't show up on my test screen, why is that>

Strange, do you mean the result doesn't show up or it doesn't even
come up with the headings of Playstation Network, UPnP and NAT type.

If its the former then either your IP address acquisition is failing or your
internet connection is failing.

If its the latter, then I'm stumped as I've heard of this before !!

Yes, I mean the headings for those don't even show up. The only two headings I have on my test screen are Obtain IP address and Internet Connection.

This is a totally weird situation.

If the fault is occurring when your PS3 is in standby Brian it has to be a faulty PS3. The PS3 should not even be trying to connect to your router, wirelessly or otherwise, while it's in stand-by. I know you said you got a replacement but the may have fobbed you off with another return or have a faulty batch themselves.
Get on to sony and send it back, you have tried everything else!

Bit of an update.... I brought a mates PS3 over to my house and hooked it up to the tv and the internet connection once again dropped.

A while later, I reconnected my ps3, turned it on, went out of the room for 15 minutes. When I came back the internet was still on. Great I thought, however I was getting not audio or video. So I looked at the back of the ps3 and what do you know the HDMI cable was out. I plugged it in, and the internet went (weird or what?)

So I tried using the AV Composite cable and the connection went again.

I thought the HDMI/AV comp cable only transfers audio/video from the ps3 to the tv??? Why are they interfering with my internet?

I'm not saying you're not right and it isn't faulty. But I tried it on 3 different Ps3's now (my original one that I returned, my new one, and my mates). To have 3 faulty ps3's all with same problem I think would be rather unlikely

Having said that though, I'll give sony a ring and see what they say.
