Max players you can host in a game?

I have 3mg and was wondering how fast a connection you would need to host a game with 32 players. Can anyone have faster broadband connection let me know how many players you can host?

I'm on 4mb now but can only host 8 players max :cry:

Its not your download that counts.Its your upload

Yeah but your upload is usually in proportion to your download speed.

Thats only if you have synchronous broadband.Most people have Asynchronous broadband which means your upload isn't proportional to your download.As far as I know Irish Broadband and Magnet are the only companies in Ireland to offer synchronous broadband

get on it, to be able to host 32, your gonna need hella broadie! Im on 10 meg and I can only host 12 player max

Disappointing, i would have thought 10mg would host more than that. 8mb has just been made available around my area but that aint going to be enough.

actually is will...I assume your talking about Magnet 8mb braodband? Its fibre optic and is Synchronous.That means you get 8mb upload and 8mb download.Most people are on ADSL which means your upload is one tenth the speed of your download.

Hmmm, interesting. Im with BT and they said its just available in my area. they mentioned something about a different type of connection so thats probably it. problem is they said i would have to be without the internet for about a month as it will take a few weeks for eircom to get the finger out and cancel my old broadband and then a week to setup the new one. cant afford to be without broadband for that long.

Might get it done when im away for a while though.

why dont you put matty in charge for a month whilst you get your broadband changed :lol: :lol: :lol:

Try Magnet and see if your in their Fibre-to-the-home development.

I am on 20 meg and can hold 32 players no probs. I am on the Virgin media VIP package. It costs me £85.00 per month, for that i get as already stated: 20mg broadband, all sky channels and un limited phone use. Expensive perhaps, but useful for gaming i think you would agree. :P

7mb and 8 players :cry:


BTW speedtest.net is a load of ****, last time i tested it said i have 3mb
then i checked on WH and it said 7mb download and either 5mb or 500kb upload
