Default PS3 Wireless Error

Ok i have a bit of a problem here. Im trying to connect my PS3 wirelessly but it wont work. It works wired, i have the right WEP code and signal strength is fairly high. Do ports have to be opened for it to work ??? if so how do you do this? And i have a netopia router with eircom broadband.
Plz help cuz its drivin me crazy i need COD4 online!!!

whats the error code? and if the ip address in the ps3 network settings ends in .255 then you need to change it, that ip is save for simething special

it says its a dns error;80710102. and i dont really know what ip address to enter but it wasnt .255.

do an internet connection test and tell me where it fails

obtain ip address?
internet connection?
playstation network?
upnp?
nat type?

it is alright untill it hits internet connection and the error comes up saying it timed out. it seems loads of people are having the same problem when i searched it online .

80710102 is an ip conflict change it so that the last two code things are on digit example 200.100.2.3!

I'm completely useless with technical advice about IP addresses.how exactly can i change it i have a windows XP if tht helps :S

If you know, your current IP it in as an website address without www. or http. A router control screen should pop up!

When you're setting your connection up to your PS3 choose manual and specify
your IP address to be something like 192.168.1.3 (thats what I use and I have
Eircom myself).
