Default Hi all/question for uk jap ps3 owners.

Hi guys just registered today, never really done the forum thing b4 so this is a bit new to me. little bit about myself, i'm 20, a student and instead of owning a big black box i have a bright white beauty :P

its the 40gb model from japan. went to a lot of trouble getting this awesome machine mainly due to my own misunderstandings but managed to get the ps3 with winning eleven (pro evo), nba 2k8 and time crisis 4 with guncon for about £350 in hong kong (would have saved more if i knew there wasn't region coding in games)

anywho i have 2 questions really aimed at other uk owners of jap ps3's

1) do u guys use a transformer to power your ps3's cos at the moment ive got one but its so noisy its kinda spoiling my argument with my 360 owning housemate about how quiet the ps is compare to the xbox lol

and 2) have u guys had problems playing assasins creed, i rented it from blockbuster today but it won't seem to load after the browser.

hope someone out there can help me but in any case hello to all.

eh up damo...

I've got a black beauty 60gig model from Hong Kong that I got last March sometime. I was in the same boat as you and a bit blonde when it came to all the PS3 tech talk, but ye kin bear with it!

Transformer...decepticons show yourselves ye lil green *******s!!!

Does yours just convert the plug. Because I got mine with a 3 pin UK plug. Maybe check the voltages, etc (make bloody sure) and you may be able to grab another kettle lead and whck it straight into the back....hence no need. But I didn't say nout if it all goes POP!!!

As for the games .....All the games are region free, so it shouldn't matter where you get them from, they should all work on your console. I rented Assassin's Creed last week from xtra-vision (block B over here) and it was grand. Havn't had any other problems with games, apart from not being able to get online with Resistance FOM. But think that was the server at the time. The only other thing is you can't play the blu-ray discs, cos they are region encoded.....And you can't play PS2 games  cos they region encoded tooo....poo poo poop!

anywho, someone may say different.....but for now, go feckin biccies and lite her up like a roooster on your grannies sofa- YEAUT

burnsie

hii i got my black 40gb beauty from argos in september from argos so i can play blue ray wahooo

you can do most thing seeing as the 40gb does have backwards compatability your wont have a problem with ps2 games cos you cant okay them as for blur ray your gunna have to buy japanese blu ray region coded discs

i also rented assasins creed worked perfectly

unfortunately due to the japanese voltage being only 100v your gonna have to stick with the transformer. i think that you could buy an english ps3 power cable tho, not sure tho you would have to look into it. you would have to check if there was a built in japanese transformer i think.

p.s tell ur mates to be quiet, or rather tell there xbox's to be quiet. man those things are loud.

yeah i've read on other forums that they built in transformers but i dnt have the balls to plug it into the mains to find out and risk blowing it up lol i wish i had known about the lack of region coding when i bought it because then i would have bought a hong kong machine which runs on 240v but c'est la vie

you could call up sony and ask them, they may be of some help. yeah i wouldnt advise plugging it into the mains without a transformer as there would be way to much power. it wouldnt blow up as such, just release some mysterious blue smoke. the problem is that if that mysterious blue smoke is released it wont work anymore lol.
