Help please

My internet is playing up
everytime i go on the pc or ps3 after 10mins i get disconnected from the internet then reconected after about 5 mins
Its annoying when trying to download stuff and play online.
I rung BT up and they were seriously cr*p the guy i spoke to didnt speak a word of english so ended up hanging up on him.
How ever i did have a powercut 6 hours ago could this be why my internet is playing up?

are you patched in through a router you should power down your PC and your router...and modem...unplug power supply on router/modem

plug in modem then a minute later the router if you have one...if you dont power up the PC

next click start...then RUN...type in CMD and hit enter

in the black looking thing that pops up

type in IPCONFIG press enter

type IPCONFIG\RELEASE press enter

type IPCONFIG\RENEW press enter

Type EXIT press enter

if you are still having problems after this then the problem is most likely out side of your control


if using vista type CMD inthe search box after pressing start

Have you done these


1) Its obvious but have you reset the modem yet?

2) I had a problem like this, we had to uninstall the internet from the pc, then reinstall it. (That worked for me).

wow that's a lil extreme....plus how do you uninstall the internets?

@Conan, I have no idea how you do it, my mums fiancé did it. It involves a disc, but it did work for me.

He uninstalled the internets...wasn't every one else in the worl a bit p!ssed waiting for him to put it back on....I bet it was that tuesday when ever I typed anything into firefox I just got 404server not found....tell your mum's fiance to stop phuqing about with the internets...we like the always on thing

ok no didnt work, waiting for my brother to get bk he said he ring BT and unstall bt broadband tomorrow for me

Mean while i guess il have to go bk to watching tv =( lol sorry i cant play in clan match and good luck x

Thats cool Milzy, fingers crossed your bro can fix it.

milz try this
go to run type cmd then ipconfig/flush dns
then exit that and type prefetch into the run box abd delete everythin in that folder
