if you have 2 slots for DDR2 you can get upto 4 Gb into it but you only need that for vista.
what ram timings can your motherboard support ?
if you can find a link it would be easy to find you some ram
i would recommend something like this > http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...win2x2048-6400

the link in the bottom of the OP should contain other links giving mor info about my PC and its capabilities
any talk of things like ram timings just make me go what?????
I am fine with installing networks and setting up multiple routers but upgrades to PC hardware is new to me...but least iam brave enough to give things ago ( read that last part as dumb as they come so will try anything once)

thank you...any chance you can explain what I should have been looking at as i noticed the ones you have said will work are PC2-4200 same as the ones I have in
why are the PC2-5300 etc. not compatible I trust you know what you are talking about but I can not rely on you every time I am looking to upgrade.
although I will be looking to upgrade other parts later
once I figure out what exactly I can upgrade

PC-5300 is not compatible as its a faster speed (667mhz) which your motherboard cannot handle...... Btw all the ram will need to be the same speed... For ex. u have a 533mhz (PC-4200) stick and a 667mhz stick the motherboard will run the memory at 533mhz for both....as the 533mhz stick would hold the other one back.... that saying that your mobo could run memory at 667mhz

Its a foxcomm 45gm/45cm what ever that means...I got two 1Gb sticks running at a faster speed but still compatible...I got a really good deal two kingston ones from PC world (the cheapo ones I ordered online where not instore so they did me the kingston at the same price)
thank you to every one who helped and offered help...trust me I will be back as i think I may need to add a graphics card as mine is built into the mother board.

ok mobo is motherboard
please define gp
I have a gift to be able to strip down almost anything and rebuild it...sometimes better than the original spec with machines...but I am crap at names and worse with abbreviations...and this is my first foray into stripping and upgrading PCs
