Default Your Own Music In GTA?

Does anyone know how to get your own music working in GTA IV? I've read through all the instructions and can't find it.

It must be possible cos I just tried online play out and when i get in a car it plays music that definitely aint from the GTA disc (cos it was good).

It is not possible, at least not on the PS3 version until we get in game XMB. Luckly I have nice 2.1 speakers right in front of my TV, so I play music of my MP3 player while playing the game.

I cant believe you guys even want to do this. It just ruins the fun of the game. the radio in all of the GTA's has always been a great and funny feature!

Most of the time I struggle to hear the music because of the SFX. The balance doesn't seem to be as good as previous GTAs even when I change them in the options.

Well there are 2 reasons for me. First, in my personal opinion, GTA 4 has the worst sound track yet. The only radio that I listened to was the talk shows. That brings me to the second reason. The talk shows got boring. They lasted me through most of the game, but I started getting bored towards the end. Then when I started going after the flying rats, I couldn't stand listening to the radio. I either played with no music at all, or with my mp3 player.

Official Playstation Blog writes that we WILL get in game music.

It also says this though:
"The user-music functionality is only included in the new development tools, which have now gone out to coders. This means that existing games won’t support it unless they’re patched"

Hopefully such a popular game like GTA will already have this in place.

it'll be left to the developer to puy custom music in the games, some games already have it (Superstardust HD)
but we won't be able to just press the PS button then put music on.

Really? That sucks, I was hoping to be able to do just that. Looks like I will be sticking with my mp3/sound system for music.

i played a lot of san andreas on me PC and loved the idea of puttin me own tunes on. but the great thing about it is that there would be some of the adds between each song(mostly)
being geeky about datelines i only ever put songs on the game that were already released before the timeline in the game
tee-hee
