Whats going on?????

I put in gta 4, then when it goes to load the game in just stays on the black scren with the mission name in the bottom right corner, i thought at first it mite just need longer loadin time but it hasnt changed for ten minutes. So what do i do, if i keep tryin do u think one time it mite load or will i have to start again??

i've had the same problem an hour ago i had to re-start the ps3, and then during gameplay the console froze altogether

Hapened to our kid. He had to delete the Game utility file and his saved game file. Apparently he reckons that a few have had the same problem. I must admit that it's frozen a couple of times for me making the transition from Online back to the Singleplayer.

tell him to disable online from the network area on the XMB.

The reason this problem is happening, is because the Ps3 version constantly tried to connect to the servers. Even while you aren't connected to PSN, the game will try to connect to the servers which causes the game to freeze

not nesicarily

i disabled the internet from my ps3, so now GTA4 runs smooth as hell, so i do beleive it is to do with the game connecting to something though

When you disable the internet connection, you are basically telling the game that there is absolutely no way to connect to the internet. If you just don't sign-in to PSN, then you're telling the game you can sign in to PSN but haven't yet.
