GTA4 taking forever to load? read on...

All credits to Daxing for working this out, I have tried and tested it, and it loaded up without a problem.

here is what to do, in Daxing's words

yeah, but mine hangs on the loading screen forever!!!

and when i got in doing this, it froze during cut scene

That was my problem! Had to delete and reload the data it saves to your hard drive!

Does it eventually come up or does it just hang there until you quit out?

I have the exact same problem. It was fine up to last night, when it said loading on the Do you have protection mission, and its the same this morning, its taking forever, and has been loading so far for an hour this morning!!

Help someone!!!

Try deleting the system data (not your save files) and start the game up again - it will need to load all the data again before you can play. Worked for me this morning

Thanks Kendo but no thanks as this is the second time after i did exactly that. This problem is only really on the 60 gig version, but by all accounts there are other problems, we just havent got that far in the game yet. Whats worse is that have been on hold for their customer services for 20 mins also!

What a huge disappointment after waiting so damn long for this game!!!

I just left it for 10mins and noting happened, do i just delete my profile and will I lose anything ??

Well i started mine up last night for a drunken online bonanza but it stayed on the "loading...The puerto rican connection" for ages. I then fell asleep being drunk an all and when i woke up this morn, it was still on that screen.
