ok i have made this because as we get closer to the GTA 4 coming out im going to post info about the game and links

Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) is the upcoming ninth installment of the Grand Theft Auto video game franchise, announced for release by Rockstar Games on October 16, 2007 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.It has been confirmed that GTA IV will run on the RAGE game engine, the same engine that powered Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis. The game is being written by Rockstar co-founder Dan Houser. GTA IV has been nominated for a 2006 Golden Joystick Award in the One To Watch For 2007 category.

According to Janco Partners analyst Mike Mickey, a financial consultant for Take-Two Interactive Software, around 150 developers are working on Grand Theft Auto IV. The analyst also found that Rockstar Games is "fully capable of ushering in an entertainment experience categorically superior to the prior cycle’s GTA product."This is compared to about 130 non-voice actors and non-motion-capture actors listed in the credits for 2002's Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Lazlow Jones, who has played the voice of the radio presenter 'Lazlow' in Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City, is labeled as part of the cast for the game. Also listed as part of the GTA IV cast is Navid Khonsari, has done voice work previously for Max Payne 2 and the GTA series.

During Microsoft's 2006 E³ press conference on May 9, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto IV would be available for the Xbox 360 and that Rockstar will offer exclusive episodic content via Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 version. This had been confirmed by Rockstar, announcing two extra, exclusive episodes.After the press conference, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, posted a press release announcing Grand Theft Auto IV will be released simultaneously for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

Peter Moore, head of Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business division announced that Rockstar Games is working on two downloadable packs for GTA IV exclusively on the 360, which will probably be available within months of the game's release date. Moore described the downloads as "epic episode packs," and not just an extra car or character. A press release during the conference said that the packs would add "hours of entirely new gameplay" to the game.There have been no details on pricing of the downloads revealed. The nature of exclusivity on these episodes is still in vague detail.

The PlayStation 3 version will also include its own exclusive episodes and unlockable content.

Speculation about the location of GTA IV is rife, though there has been no official word from Rockstar at all. However, in December 2004, games industry trade paper MCV claimed that "sources close to the project" suggested "the team is looking beyond the United States for the setting of the next title, with Europe a strong contender." Furthermore, in December 2005, The Inquirer also claimed that GTA would return to London, and that the game would be split into sub-regions of London, for example: the East End, West End and City of Westminster

The American attorney and anti-obscenity activist Jack Thompson has sent a message, entitled “Bill Gates in the Crosshairs," to various news outlets vowing to rally against the release of Grand Theft Auto IV for Xbox 360. He cited a December 2006 report from the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility that indicates progress has been made to keep mature-rated games out of children's hands, but that further elevators need to be taken to ensure appropriate content is held from minors.

Thompson said that he would “undertake various means to prohibit” the sale of GTA IV to minors, and told Gates “Please have your lawyers contact me in order that such sales will be prevented.”

He also said that the ICCR report “makes it abundantly clear that unless such prohibitions are in place, then millions of units of the new Grand Theft Auto game will be sold directly to minors.” He continued, “I am quite intent upon making sure that does not happen. I and others will endeavor to stop Microsoft from participating in any fashion, directly or indirectly, in such sales to minors.”

Thompson's campaign seems to be solely focused on the Xbox 360 release of the game, making no mention of the PS3 version at all.

On the February 19, 2007, Thompson claimed he had received multiple death threats sent to his house from angry Xbox 360 owners


GTA IV will mark the 10th anniversary of the GTA franchise.

yeah..but i doubt there wil be any for a while..there may be a bit of info at the upcoming i.t conventions that pop up through out the year..and when new info does pop up it will be blown all over the internet..so we'll know straight away

well i was on a website that said you can fill your car up with fuel and the size of the map will be like liberty city,vice city and san andreas combined :shock: :shock: :shock:

That might be the map. Remember in snadreas your took a flight to liberty city. You might be doing the same thing only with a full map.

yous probably already know this but jus incase some of yous dont..the first GTA IV trailer is going to be released on the 29th march theres a timer on gtas official site counting down and all..cant wait..

Their doing a countdown for a trailer??? It better be worth the wait. A countdown on the game would be better idea.

Yeah, I heard that from my friend! It's so cool! I heard the trailer would be around 5 mins and it hopefully it could show the location and everything! With a countdown like that, it's probably gonna be something special.

Rockstar Games will begin to introduce episodic GTA IV content in 2008.

Grand Theft Auto IV is scheduled for release worldwide in October with a simultaneous release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We know very little about the game at this time, but back at E3 it was announced that the retail release would be supplemented with downloadable episodic content.

It's now been confirmed that this content will begin to appear in 2008, although there is no platform specific info.[/b]
