Thinking of getting a PS3

Hi Everyone,

First time on the site and I'm looking for advice. I'm in the market for a new console and am thinking either PS 3 or Xbox 360. Not sure which to to get.

I am not technically minded and know nothing of the different specifications of each model. I've heard from people that the xbox 360 is a superior machine than the PS 3 and that the games are better. Is this true.

Given I'm on a PS 3 forum I fully expect everyone to be pro PS 3 but I just want to know WHY a PS is better than an XBOX.

Another question: Can I buy games in the States/Far east and use them in a european PS 3?

360 = dvd ps3 = bluray go look that one up your self secondly yes all ps3 games are region free you can buy and play games from anywere in the world

PS3 comes with WIFI as standard, a 40Gb or 80Gb hardrive and is free to play online.
xbox doesn't come with WIFI (thats an extra £70) a 20Gb, 60Gb or 120Gb hardrive and costs £40 a year to play it online.

All PS3 games are region free.

u no im going say ps3 but ps3. if u play online ps3=FREE xbox=£100. £60 for wireless thingy and £40 yearly online.

PS3 has better exclusives metal gear solid 4,little big planet,socom,killzone2..ect I have both xbox and ps3 never play my 360 ps3 is the one to go for..

i agree with stevie you all know i have both and the 360 exclusives have nothing on the ps3 ones i invite anyone to tell me one 360 exclusive to top or rival the technical scale of mgs4

that's why i haven't mentioned the games...as the saying goes, one mans sh!t is another mans scat.

besides, only 1 of the games Stevie mentioned is out (MGS4).

Thanks for all the feedback. It's been very informative and a great help as I know nothing about the different consoles. Seems to be a compelling case for PS 3.

Anyone know where there are good deals to get them in Dublin?

lol that is a lil bias. gears of war 2 v mgs4? get ps3 because you havnt seen the best of ps3 YET!

thats why i used the word technical to remove opinion theres very little on 360 that can stand up to mgs4 on a technical scale the very reason i used the disk drive in my first post ps3 out does 360 in that term
