Default Sony are theives

Hi Folks.

Sony have created a shambles with the new variety map packs from Call of duty 4. Basically the game is region free but some dope working at Sony decided to region lock the map pack and not put any caution note telling users that it will only work with certain copies of the game.

I am really pissed off at Sony for refusing to refund anyone who downloaded the COD4 variety map pack from their online store

This is just not on. Sony are complete Scam artists. The longer this goes on the worse its going to be for them. I refuse to buy maps from another store until I get sorted for the complete shambles that Sony created. They made a huge play about their PS3 games being region unlocked, you could buy a game in the US or the states and it will play happily on your machine at home.....then WHY OH WHY !! region lock the add ons you might want to buy ?????? Incredible imcompetance. But what really annoys me is that people who go to the online store today or tomorrow and download the maps for their kids will still miss the tiny print ontop of the screen cautioning them that this map pack will only work with such and such a disk, (just added recently). There should be a flashing BANNER !!!!! at the very least.

If I buy a Krups kettle or a black and Decker Drill and find its faulty, I bring it back to the store and get a refund or replacement. I dont go back to Krups or B&D. Sony are blaming Activision for this and trying to wash their hands of it which is outragous.

I'm like a dog with a bone with this one and will not let go.

This needs to be sorted.

Regards,

Declan, Ireland.

By Irish law they have to give you a refund if the product is not as described.

Consumer Information act 1978 states:
Any sign that limits the retailer's responsibilty is illegal

Sales of Goods and Supply of Services act 1980 states:
All goods must be:
Fit for purpose
Of merchantable quality
As described
Conform to sample

The variety pack was not fit for purpose as you can't use it. Sony have to refund you. If they don't, pop down to your local district court and for 15 euro you can take Sony to small claims court (pretty easy to do...just fill out a form and they will do the rest)

it's not SONY who locked the maps, t'was Infinity Wards, y'know the developers of CoD4 and the variety map pack.
the NTSC and PAL versions of CoD4 have slight differences and that's why the game doesn't read the maps

Sony also pay for the small claim's court fee if he wins

Doesn't matter. In Ireland, all dealings are with the retailer not the manufacturer. Every store has to offer a 1 year warranty on top of their 30 day one in which they have to replace it if a valid complaint is made. Sony are the ones supplying the product and therefore have to compensate him.

Hi, this is my first post on the forum. I've had my ps3 for just over a month and I am a bit of a cod4 addict! How do I check if my game is compatible with the new maps? How do I buy them? Are they any good?

Cheers

did u buy your copy in the uk? i.e you didnt import it from america or japan?

if its from uk, go to account management and add funds to your wallet, then go to the psn store, after that go to latest i think its in and the maps are in there, click on the icon, buy em then download it then install em, and hey presto jobs a goodun,

they are £6.99 btw

Have you checked out the PS store yet?

If your in spain and have a spanish copy of COD and your PS3 is regeistered to a Spanish address then you shouldn't have any problems

Possibly wont have any problems even if your PS3 is regeistered to a UK address but not 100% sure, Im sure if everything you have is from Europe you shouldn't have any problems, (maybe)
