playing music from hdd during games???

i know theres probably a thread on this somewhere but i cant find it...

anywho can the ps3 play music from the hard drive while i'm playing a game??? i taught it could but tried it there and no joy... keeps saying function cannot be completed while playing this game. tried it with rsv2 and cod4....

any ideas???

roger... well i'm neither Sony nor a gamr developer so i guess that means i'm fooked till they patch the arse off all the games so... i cant believe that the 360 can do so much with no problems and the ps3 almost has a heart attack everytime it gets an update...

he's not being a fanboy he's just telling it like it is. 2.40 was up for a few hours before they took it down due to bricking ps3s.
the only use 2.40 has atm is in-game XMB and trophy's FOR 1 PHUCKING GAME.

I read on a game website that it could take a few weeks to release 2.41 a patched/repaired version of 2.40.. I dont know if thats Bulls**t or not. But I crave in game music, And more trophys.

that it took them long enough to release 2.40 full of features the ps3 should've had from the start
and when they did it's 1) bricking ps3s & 2) half the features don't even work yet.

i aint a 360 fanboy brother i'm a gaming fanboy and when i pay €400 fcuking snots for a console i expect it to be able to do the basic things. the 360 was out 3 or 4 years before the playstation and everything worked fine. playstation cant even copy the 360 with basic stuff like the dashboard, invites, messages etc... to be honest the only thing that the ps3 does better is graphics and thats down to better processing power and theres slighty less lag on some games than on the xbox.... explain to me now why the ps3 is the best invention since the sliced pan!!!!!

thanks phatboy for having sense. like you said takes them 2 years to get the xmb working... they put the update up for 15 or so hours and fcuk up every second ps that downloads it... sony are a big enough company that they should be able to put proper money into getting these things sorted quickly and correctly

There's no in-game music because Microsoft holds the patent to it and the Ps3 isn't capable of it developed into the system. Only game developers can include it in games. Many devs have come out and said they won't be patching their games for in-game music or trophies. Infinity ward (COD4), Insomniac (Ratchet and Clank, Resistance), Capcom (Lost Planet, Devil May Cry 4), Codemasters (GRID), 2K games (All 2k sports titles)
