I guess this depends on the TV in question!.

On the PS3 set RBG full if the TV supports it. I recently read somewhere that this makes no difference unless the TV supports it. I dont know more than that unfortunately except that mine appears to! . I also have that super white thing on, but again I dont know if that makes any difference, it just makes me feel better! lol.

Its also worth going through the TV's display settings to see what options you have. For example, I find switching between display modes such as Normal, Dynamic or Cinema shows big differences, but its upto you as to which you feel looks better. For me my Dynamic setting works best as it seems to bring out the colours more and deepen the blacks.

I have a Samsung 5 Full HD 1080p.... Ive checks a few forums, and they say unless your LCD 40" plus you would'nt be able to tell any difference between 720p to 1080p is that true.

yeah but most games will look better in 720p regardless of the size of the screen

Most games are rendered in 720p, so no real benefit using 1080p IMO.

I personally dont think this generation of consoles is upto the task of full 1080p for games yet. Same on the Xbox 360 where most games are rendered in 720p and the hardware upscales it. I dont think the P3 has a hardware scaler though, so not sure how it goes about upscaling when you select 1080p.

My 32" LCD HDTV only goes upto 720p and i'm happy with that. Maybe i'll upgrade for the next generation of consoles.

I'm pretty sure a 32" HDTV can output full 1080p. Or at least I've seen some that claim they can on the technical specs.

I agree, dont use 1080i. The i means its interlaced rather than progressive (p). This means that only half the image is sent at once (all the odd lines, then all the even lines). If you have a 720p HDTV which also states it supports 1080i your probably better off with 720 in your PS3 display settings.

But if you do have a 1080p TV that properly supports it, then I'd guess it be worth trying it out and judging for yourself whats best. I still dont know what the PS3 does to upscale the games rendered in 720p to 1080p.
