Sounds to me like your PS3 is set for 1080p output and your TV can only
handle 1080i max....

The same green speckles happens when my bro plugs his PS3 back into
his own TV after using it on mine. Mines 1080p and his is only 1080i/720p Max.

Nah it seems to force it onto the TV. I gues the TV tries to downscale
it or something but it ends up displaying very badly with a green discoloration
crackling and speckles. Can't be good for the TV !!!

Perhaps some TV's just won't display it at all though....

Default got me thinking

My TV is definately a 1080p set, however i am running my PS3 through my Sony AV amp.
This basically means that the hdmi cable is plugged straight into the back of the amp and i select what source i am using by the amp, not the TV.
Wonder if this could be the problem...?
I am off to work shortly, when i get back tomorrow i will try and plug the PS3 directly into the TV.. Will let you know how it goes..

Default GOT IT

Ok guys... I have found the problem... For some reason, when using my Sony AV amp to route my hdmi signal i get green speckles in the picture...especially with black or dark screens.
When connecting the ps3 directly to the tv, the speckles are gone and the picture looks even more fantastic than it did before....Hope this info helps you guys out there with the same problem that i had... cheers
