If its failing to get an IP address it could be an IP address conflict.
Instead of doing Auto for your IP address, do it manually and see
if it makes any difference...

Everything looks ok there. Do you have a laptop or PC
or anything else connected to your router ??
Edit: Nah a new account won't do anything for ya really. You'll still have to set up your
PS3 to talk to your router....

Ok cool.

On your PC (which I assume is getting out on the internet with no probs !!)
Do the following

Click Start Button
-->Run
-->type cmd in the box and hit enter
-->type "ipconfig" without the quotes in the black screen that pops up

Take note of the following

IP address (it'll be something like 192.168.1.???)
Subnet Mask (it'll be something like 255.255.255.0)
Default Gateway (It'll be something like 192.168.1.254)

Now on your PS3 when you're doing your connection settings
change from Auto IP address to Manual.

Add in the information that you've written down from your PC above
EXCEPT change the last digit(s) of the ip address to something
different to what your PC had. I.E. if the PC had an IP address of
192.168.1.3

choose something different for your PS3 like this
192.168.1.10

Do what you've done before for your settings and then run a connection
test and see how you get on....

Nah that shouldn't make any difference.

I had a look on the net for that code. It seems rebooting your
router might help !!

Just turn the router off for about 30 seconds and then turn it back on
again.

Edit: 8013013D - "A connection error has occurred" - May be to do with the SSID of the Router or signal strength if the conneciton drops Putting the PS3 into DMZ may help - otherwise check WPA key Ps3 can't handle WPA2 only WPA or none

Sounds like your security settings on your router are stopping it connecting to your ps3.

Try disabling security then try again.

Dunno if this'll sort your error....

About Security settings: it shouldn't affect how you connect to the
router. As long as you're using the correct WEP or WPA key it should
be fine.

If you wish to disable your security settings you'll have to do that
on the router. (This will open your router up and anybody that
can receive a signal from your router will be able to connect to
it and use your internet and use your bandwidth !!)

The IP address for your router should be the same as your default gateway.
Just type that into to your browser and you'll be able to access the router
and disable settings there....

Alternatively if you've just changed ISP you may need to ring 'em up !!
