only the US/Jpn 60Gb has full BW compatibility, their 80Gb has limited software emulation. however, none of them will play PAL ps2 games.

exactly what he said....I hunted down a 60gb for ages (uk version) and got nothing....so settled for 40GB as was £100 cheaper than any 80gb versions I looked at....I would say get a 40gb used as they are cheaper than any other and get a new slim line PS2....I still have my chunky PS2 and works a dream....though I do strip it down once every three months and clean out the gubbing
if you are going to get a spanker get the 80gb as it is the same price as the 40gb brand new although a 160gb is due for release soon....so you may want to see what the prices hold at for the 160, it may even cause a price fall in the 40 and 80, making the PS3 more affordable the the eggbox
