What ya mean pilot?

Like a real pilot? Im a pilot but its only on Microsoft Sim 2004 & FSX.

I Was so close last month to jacking it all in and going to Florida for a year to get my PPL and first half of CPL. But i chickened out (again)

Are you going down that route or is it just something your thinking about?

Yeh real pilot.
I'm moving to Canada in the next couple of months and I'm buying a house on either 10 or 100 acres (2 in the running) so I've decided to do my PPL.

I wanted to know if I'm better of buying an old Cessna type craft or a new Advanced Ultralight. They're roughly the same sort of money but I need to take maintenance etc into account as well as how easy it'll be to take off from grass. The ultralight is easy for take off and filthy cheap to run etc but if the Cessna can manage it and isnt savage to run it's a "real" plane and might be cooler. I also think the new one might be more reliable and it's a long way to fall if it dies
Either way I can only take 1 passenger on the first license.

Lotto me ar5e. I wish. No. Flogging the house here and have no mortgage so decided why not. The wifes from there so immigration is easy.

Get it all as soon as I go over cause I know I won't after that.
I'm getting a Corvette C6 Z06, a 45ft pool and the plane. All for the price of my last car here. Robbing Irish Bastads.

And the houses are about 1/3 the price too.

Thanks for the links.

No probs mate.

There's weeks worth of reading there for you, (Some of it put me off actually) but dont let that stop you!

Seriously though come back on here and tell me how your getting on, I'd love to do how your doing, & I'd love to see pics of whatever you get, Cessna or Microlite.

You jammy jammy bstard.

I know its Florida but if I was getting my PPL anywhere I'd take a strong look at this place....

Great value and I've heard great things about it

The ultralight I'm looking at is on www.challenger.ca
The land version not the one with floats. $25k new. Not bad I reckon. The price of a kitchen over here

f*ck off you lucky tw@t!

lol.

p.s, go with the light aircraft option Gord. Get a Piper Cherokee or suttin. I have no idea on maintenance costs, but properly looked after ones with a decent Hours Running time should do you good. Just keep a parachute or two on board for sure

I'll be divorced if the running costs are savage though. That ultralight is really cheap to run. More important I can store it at home and land it on my own property. I don't know if I can do that with a light. I think storage could be the worst cost if I can't keep it at home.

Also, It's only for a bit of crack so I don't want to get into any major maintenance or care issues. Get home from work a bit stressed and head off for a quick spin in the clouds. Nice.

Then hit a lamp-post on landing

Not at all. I bought many moons ago in a good town for selling when it seemed savage expensive but turns out it was crazy cheap. I did work the ass of to clear the mortgage though. And the exchange rate means I get over 1.5 times what I sell for so it's all in my favour there. But I got ripped off for about 110k in my last company and ended up with heart problems over it so I deserve a break. I just plan on enjoying that break.

The joys of being old

It's not perfect though. Cow lives up the road from me. fnar fnar

And I'll be living 30 minutes from the border so I'll only be that far from the cocks that mean we can't use our headsets.

Oh well. I enjoy our little chats on here and in this one a girl joined in.
It's like a trainspotters dream.

Where we're looking at in Canada is sh1te for broadband so I'll end up on satellite. It might be ages before I get back on here.

I'll miss you all. Yes. Even you Wolfkill90
