Default pS3 causes internet to drop its connection

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've being searching for a sollution for months now and it's driving me potty at this stage:

I have a Netgear DG834G V4 wireless router (latest firmware installed) . Whenever we plug in our PS3 the DSL and Internet lights on the router go off and the internet connection on the PC drops every few seconds and then comes back and so on. Whenever I do the Internet Connection Test I get the 80710102 error code (Which I believe is a DNS error???). The wireless settings on the router are correct. It’s just when the PS3 is even plugged in that the problem arises. I have tried different things people have suggested to me like connecting via Ethernet, disabling SSID, disabling Media Server, changing encryption, channel etc... But still have the same problem. Have you guys any solutions?

A few days ago, I contacted my ISP (Gaelic Telecom) and the guy said that it's not an internet issue and that I should contact Sony, as he is guessing that the PS3 is faulty and needs replacing. Is this true?

In the event that it does need replacing, do you need any of the original documentation that came with the box because they might have got thrown out (its still under warrantity though. I bought it last April)
